Palmdale, CA – While the State Water Resources Control Board continues to force local water agencies to enforce their arbitrary reduction figures, El Niño is knocking on the Antelope Valley’s door. PWD customers used a record low of 80 gallons of water per person per day for the month of November 2015. This accomplishment is markedly lower than other cities throughout the AV and beyond, even though, the District as a whole is only at 26.8% of its mandatory 32% reduction. November saw the District conservation rate fall to 20%.

Palmdale, CA – Watering restrictions for Palmdale residents, businesses, industry, schools, municipal facilities, and any other area where potable water is used for irrigation, can now water with no time constraints on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Palmdale, CA – The “once in a thousand years” rain event last Thursday wreaked havoc upon the cities of Palmdale, Quartz Hill, and various neighborhoods throughout the area. The California Aqueduct system located off 70th St. West received a direct hit of mud and debris from the intense rainfall; ultimately blocking a portion creating a makeshift dam.

Palmdale, CA – Last week, the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) released August water conservation figures for all 406 reporting water agencies. While the Statewide average of 27% exceeds the Governor’s mandatory 25% reduction, many water agencies have fallen short of achieving their reduction mandates. The Palmdale Water District (PWD) fell short of its goal by 2.6%. The SWRCB governs all water, both above and below ground, and is strictly enforcing these water conservation mandates. Fines up to $10,000 per day could be issued to those water agencies found in non-compliance of their given reduction goal.

Palmdale, CA – The Palmdale Water District received the “District of Distinction” and “Transparency Certificate of Excellence” accreditation by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF) for its sound fiscal management policies, practices in district operations, and transparency in governance to the public and stakeholders.

Palmdale Water District water wasters are no longer receiving warnings for violations of water conservation regulations. The Palmdale Water Board approved an update to the resolution governing watering restrictions in order to reach the State mandated water consumption reduction of 32%. First offenses will receive a $50.00 fine, followed by a $250.00 fine for a second offense, $500.00 for a third offense, and water shut-off for a fourth.

Palmdale, CA – On April 1, 2015, Governor Brown mandated a statewide water consumption reduction of 25% by March, 2016. Water agencies were tasked to figure out mechanisms to achieve the new requirement. The State Water Resources Control Board further defined how much water each of the hundreds of water agencies
must reduce. Palmdale’s reduction is 32%.

Palmdale, CA – Palmdale residents have risen to the challenge set forth by the State Water Resources Control Board to reduce water consumption by 32% before February 28, 2016. The community got off to a good start by reducing water consumption for June by 29%. Each month’s conservation numbers will be reported the following month to the State. Palmdale continues to impress with the communities efforts.
