Plant Sale Big Success For Our Customers

admin June 25, 2012

PALMDALE, CA, JUNE 25, 2012 – On Saturday 23 the Palmdale Water District sponsored a plant sale by partnering with local landscape professionals to bring the community a KNOCK-OUT plant sale. PWD’s goal is to feature sustainable plants from the booklet, Landscape Plants for the California High Desert, to provide information on our “CASH FOR GRASS” program, and show customers how to design a water wise landscape.

PWD would like to thank the landscape professionals that participated in Saturday’s event, making it a great success: AV Garden and Turf, Green Bee Nursery, AV Resource Conservation District, Natural Solutions, and Denise K Designs. The District would also like to thank all the customers who came to the sale.

The plant sale was held at the Palmdale Water District’s office on Avenue Q and 20 St. East, in the shade between the two buildings. Plants in one gallon and five gallon containers were going for half price a huge savings for customers. By the end of the day not much was left. PWD gave away landscape information, hose nozzles and other items. Denise K Designs provided valuable information on landscape design and placing plants together.

Mojave Desert Sage (Salvia dorrii) an evergreen shrub was one of the favorite plants sold. Salvia combines well with native perennials or in a natural landscape or border.

Look for the next plant sale in 2013. Please let us know what you thought of the sale and if you have any ideas for the next plant sale, on line or on facebook.

🍂💧PWD Fall Watering Recommendations💧🍂
With cooler weather, landscapes need less water to stay healthy. Adjusting your schedule saves water, protects our supply, and keeps your yard thriving.

✅ Fall Guidelines (Oct–Dec):
Water 2 days a week
Run each sprinkler zone for 5 minutes
Total per day: about 15 minutes per watering day
Total per week: 30 minutes per week

🌱 Pro Tips:
Water early morning or evening to reduce evaporation.
Aim water at the outer edge of your plant’s canopy, not just the base.
Check sprinklers often, misdirected sprays waste water on sidewalks & driveways.

Every drop makes a difference. Let’s use water wisely together. 💙
