admin March 9, 2017

Palmdale, CA-  On March 22, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Palmdale Water District Board meeting. The District’s Board of Directors will consider, among other agenda items, the information in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and will determine the sufficiency of the environmental documentation under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

The Palmdale Water District, as Lead Agency under CEQA, has prepared the Final EIR for the Littlerock Reservoir Sediment Removal Project. The Littlerock Reservoir Sediment Removal Project Final EIR evaluates impacts from the proposed construction of a concrete grade control structure within Littlerock Reservoir, hauling sediment from behind the dam to nearby quarry sites, and maintaining the storage capacity through annual sediment removal.

Details on the Final EIR certification hearing are as follows:

DATE: March 22, 2017

TIME: 7:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Palmdale Water District – Board Room2029 East Avenue Q, Palmdale, CA 93550

The purpose of the meeting is to provide a final opportunity for citizens to learn and comment on the Littlerock Sediment Removal Project. The project would restore Littlerock Reservoir to 1992 water storage and flood control capacity and preserve habitat for the endangered arroyo toad.

The Final EIR includes comments received during the public review period and the District’s responses to those comments and any associated revisions to the document, which can be found on the Districts website under projects. ☀️💧 Hot weather can mean higher water use, especially outdoors. A few small changes can help make every drop count:

🌅 Water your landscape during the cooler parts of the day to reduce evaporation.
🔎 Check sprinklers and irrigation lines for leaks or broken heads.
🧹 Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of hosing them down.
🪴 Choose water-wise plants that thrive in our Antelope Valley climate.
🚿 Adjust irrigation as needed—your landscape may not need as much water as you think!
