Avanzará El Proyecto de Eliminación del Depósito de Sedimento en la Presa de Littlerock

Palmdale, CA – El 22 de marzo de 2017, la Junta Directiva del distrito de agua de Palmdale celebró una audiencia pública notó en su sala de juntas a tener en cuenta la certificación del Informe Final de impacto ambiental (EIR) y su decisión sobre el proyecto de eliminación de Littlerock depósito sediment.

En esta audiencia pública, la Junta Directiva del distrito certificó el EIR Final de proyecto y aprobó el proyecto con condiciones después de la consideración de toda la información pública y los comentarios recibidos sobre el proyecto y EIR Final. Como requerido por CEQA, el distrito ha presentado una notificación de determinación (NOD) con Los Angeles County Clerk y el centro de información de estado dentro de los cinco días laborables siguientes a la decisión del proyecto. El proyecto consiste en tres componentes. La primera fase comienza con la construcción de una estructura de control del grado subterránea dentro del Embalse Littlerock en Rocky Point. La segunda fase es el retiro total de 1,165,000 yardas cúbicas de sedimento acumulado desde dentro el Embalse sobre unos siete al margen de tiempo de doce años. Finalmente, retiro de sedimento anual en curso previsto de aproximadamente 38,000 yardas cúbicas por año para mantener capacidad del diseño.

Estas tres acciones de proyecto son necesarias para restaurar y conservar la capacidad del Embalse, que ha sido considerablemente reducida con el tiempo por la acumulación de sedimento detrás del Embalse Littlerock durante afluencias estacionales. En 1992 el embalse tenía un almacenamiento de 3,500 acres-pies (AF). Actualmente, la capacidad de memoria del Embalse ha sido reducida a aproximadamente 3,037 af debido a la acumulación de sedimentos.

Instalaciones recreativas en la presa y del embalse de Littlerock fueron cerradas por el servicio forestal de Estados Unidos debido a preocupaciones de seguridad y salud desde la primavera de 2015, y en este momento no hay planes para abrir de nuevo sus instalaciones al público. La eliminación de los sedimentos en la represa es para aumentar la capacidad de almacenamiento de agua necesaria.

El distrito ha sido apoyado en la preparación de la final EIR por el USDA Forest Service, el Bosque Nacional de Los Angeles, como la Agencia Principal bajo National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
