At first glance, understanding your monthly water bill can seem a challenging task for both new and existing Palmdale Water District customers.

Let's take a moment for a closer look at a typical statement so that you will have a better understanding of what each field on your water bill actually means to you.
Account name
Service address: address the meter serves
Account number
Previous balance: any amount owed from previous bills
Current charges: total amount of current charges and date bill becomes delinquent - BILLS ARE DUE UPON RECEIPT
Total due: total account balance including any past due accounts
Name & mailing address on account
 
Remittance address for PWD:  the address that you may send your payment if choosing to pay via US postal mail (click here to learn of other payment options)
Water usage: amount of water used during billing cycle measured in billing units - one billing unit equals 100 cu.ft. or 748 gal. of water
Return payment stub: return this top portion of statement with payment to insure proper credit to your account
Zone: billing are based on elevation components (click here for more detail on District Zones)
Statement number and date: PWD internal routing number and date the bill was generated
Detail of current charges: Base charge is the minimum charge determined by the size of your meter; additional usage is based on a five-tiered rate system for water used over the minimum charge.
Billing period: the period of time you are being billed for water
Water service for: number of days of billing period
Usage graph: read right to left, this helpful graph charts your monthly water usage history for the year
Meter size and number: size and identification number of meter at service address
Bill message: important information regarding your bill or PWD
Current/previous read: the prior and current readings of your meter
PWD telephone number, work hours, and web address
