Water Quality Reports

High water quality is a valuable resource. The quality of water used for drinking, cooking, and agriculture directly affects public health, safety, and welfare. The Palmdale Water District is dedicated to providing clean, pure water. The District continues to provide water system facilities to meet current and future needs, treatment, and testing to ensure high-quality water.

The Palmdale Water District utilizes Groundwater and Surface Water for its fresh (potable) water sources. The groundwater is drawn from the District’s operation of groundwater wells and as such is limited in supply. Our surface water comes from two sources one being the state aqueduct and the other being the Littlerock Reservoir.

Public Health Goal Report

Our water system complies with all of the health-based drinking water standards and Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) required by the California Division of Drinking Water and the USEPA.

The Palmdale Water District Public Health Goal (PHG) Report compares the District’s drinking water quality with Public Health Goal (PHGs) adopted by California’s EPA’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and with Maximum Contaminant Level Goals (MCLGs) adopted by the USEPA.

The PHG report is required to be completed every three (3) years by the California Division of Drinking Water.

Consumer Confidence Report

The Palmdale Water District is confident that its drinking water is of the highest quality. As detailed above, stringent water quality testing is conducted on the water before it is delivered to you, the customer.

Water quality testing is divided into “Primary” and “Secondary” testing standards. Primary standards are set to protect public health from contaminants in water that may be immediately harmful to humans or affect their health if consumed for long periods of time. Secondary standards govern aesthetic qualities of water such as taste, mineral content, odor, color, and turbidity.

To provide you with a better understanding of the quality of your drinking water, we have made our yearly Consumer Confidence Report available here. Contact the office at 661-947-4111 to have a hard copy mailed to you.
