Why does the Palmdale Water District use Service Zones?

Zones were created to develop our current rate structure for water usage. Many variables come into consideration while developing zones within our service district, such as costs associated with boosting or pumping water to higher elevations. Each zone may vary in these required expenditures thus zones were created to distribute costs accordingly.

Currently the Palmdale Water District is divided into 4 service zones. In the map above, the northern most area (shown in yellow) is defined as the "Base Area" , while moving south the Zone structure subsequently includes "Area 1", "Area 2", and "Area 3"
